GRID 2012: 16 May until 1 July

This year the Amsterdam Photo Foundation organises the fifth edition of GRID from May 16th until July 1st 2012. GRID is a bi-annual international photography festival about contemporary visual culture and offers a wide range of exhibitions by international renowned artists and emerging talents.


GRID 2012 presents:

  • Exhibitions by approximately 30 international artists
  • An additional OFF GRID festival program (by galleries and the creative industry)
  • Related educational art projects
  • Lectures, workshops and competitions

Main location GRID 2012

In the participating cities Amsterdam, Amstelveen, Haarlem, Zaanstad, Beemster, Apeldoorn and Amersfoort, there are expositions to visit at various sites. These cities in the northern part of the agglomeration of cities in The Netherlands (also known as the 'Randstad') are being connected via GRID 2012. The Cruquius area in the eastern part of Amsterdam will be the main location of GRID 2012. The old factory halls and warehouses within this industrial environment will feature exhibitions of international renowned artists and emerging talents.

Urban Reality Check: Latin America

What is your vision of the 'Urban Reality' in Latin America? What is your experience of the cities on this continent and how do you perceive the complexity of the current society? Now you will have the chance to show us!

Photography Biennal GRID2012 announces this contest in cooperation with CEDLA and La Chispa which is an open platform for Latin American photography. All winning images will be exhibited during GRID2012, the international photo festival, at LAKMA, Latin American Art Museum of Amersfoort (the Netherlands) from Friday 25 May until 1 July 2012.

This photo competition is open for submissions made in Latin America by both amateur and professional photographers, from Latin American countries and The Netherlands. Both single images (with a maximum of 3 photos) and series (1 series of maximum 7 photos) will be accepted.

 

 


Submission deadline: 26 February 2012, 23.59 hrs C.E.T. (Central European Time)

  • The 3 winning single images and 3 winning series will be exhibited during GRID2012 at LAKMA, Latin American Art Museum in Amersfoort.
  • The overall grand prize winner will receive the opportunity to have his/ her winning photo(s) be included in the photo book of the GRID2012 Latin American presentation, as well as a print of his/ her work.
  • The winning pictures will also be part of a (online and/or print) publication via La Chispa.
